The short version of the farm's history

The oldest part of the main building was built. The old building stoped beyond the main entrance, like the clip on the photo. An older version of this part is seen on the old photo right.

1829Emblem of the family

The farm was owned by the landowner living at Austrått Manor, up to 1829 when Knut Holtermann sold the place to Christoffer Jakobsen Lund.

1840Farmhouse

The main wing was enlarged eastwards.

1859Chr. LundChr. Lund

Christoffer Christoffersen Lund was fishing herring with seines. The herring was stored in barrels and codfish was salted and dried at the seaside. The fish was sold in Norway and abroad, an export licence was given and they used a sailing boat, a ketch for the transport.

Establishment of a commercial activity. A shipping office was founded and a telephone exchange was installed.

1880Østfløya.

The east wing was enlarged. Here was a shop and business premises. A part of the wing was used as boarding house.

A post office was opened. Pilot station, posting station and weather station were linked up with the place at the end of 1800.

1900Arnt Chr. Lund.Severine Lund.

Change of ownership. Arnt Chr. Lund took over both as farmer, trader, postmaster and shipping agent. As a combination of collapse in the trade and personal judgment, the firm was close to bankruptcy. His wife Severine tried to solve the problems. She refused to sell the farm and the livestock, but furniture had to be sold.

The shop and trade were moved to the seaside.

Lunds Handelsforretning was established as a public limited co. They continued to trade herring and retail trade. The war 1914-1918, the marked blocked and too many unsold barrels of herring, nearly did away with the firm. Mutual guarantee was at that time as today a reliable road to destruction.

Aslaug Lund Hoff took over and carried on the business to 1948.

1948Uthaug harbourUthaug harbour

The business are divided. The farm was divided from the rest. New buildings were erected at the harbour and the business continued.

1972Gammelskolen

The business trade come to an end and the last building was moved along the road to the museum.

Breidablikk, the old farm buildings with 5 daa land was bought by the State and Ørland municipality and given to the foundation Uthaugsgården. Furniture and movables were given from the family Lund Hoff to Ørland municipality. The place is organized as a cultural-historical museum, named Uthaugsgården.
