Location
The museum opened on 26 May 2001 in Magasin A at Karljohansvern in Horten.

The museum is the national museum for photography in Norway. It is owned by the Norwegian state and has overall responsibility for the preservation, collection and dissemination of photographs in Norway, with a particular focus on artistic photographs.

Parking/access
Preusmuseum has a large parking area. The main entrance is located in connection with the exhibitions and museum shop.
Museum shop
The shop is well stocked with photographs, photography books, postcards, various souvenirs bearing the museum logo, photographic and photo storage products, gifts and much more for professional and amateur photographers alike.
