THE INGRID SEMMINGSEN RESEARCH LIBRARY
At present the library contains 9,000 titles concerning Norwegian migration overseas in all its aspects. It also contains about 3,500 yearbooks, journals and other publications.

LETTERS FROM AMERICA
The museum has over 7,000 letters which the emigrants either wrote home, received from Norway, or wrote to each other while overseas. The letters are classified according to sender, year and place of reception. The letters are either originals or copies. The oldest original letter dates from 1857.

PHOTOGRAPHS
The collection includes about 6,800 photographs associated with Norwegian emigration. A card index gives a thematic informative survey of the photos.

EMIGRATION AGENT ARCHIVES

The archives contain the files of a local emigration agent and is the only known collection of its kind.

MISSIONARY COLLECTION
The museum has the private archives of several missionaries and social aid workers, primarily from the Far East. Among these is the large collection and archive of Gotfred and Rannei Rekkebo.

NEWS 2008 SCHEDULE PAPER CLIPPINGS
The files contain two large collections of NEWS 2008 SCHEDULE paper clippings compiled by The Norseman's Federation between 1907 and 1960. A detailed overview of the contents are accessible by computer.

INTERVIEWS
The museum has 450 tape-recorded interviews with Norwegian emigrants and returned emigrants.

CHURCH RECORDS
There are microfilm copies of church records from some 2,000 Norwegian-American Lutheran congregations in the United States. The church records contain information about church events such as baptisms, confirmations, weddings and burials together with reports from meetings and other events in the community. The records cover a period from the 1840s to the 1960s.

CENSUS RECORDS
Census information from the districts of major Norwegian settlement are available on microfilm. The figures cover the period from 1850 to 1920. The collection is gradually being supplemented with an index.

PLAT MAPS
The museum has microfilm copies of Minnesota plat maps.

EMIGRANT LISTS
The museum has a growing collection of emigrant lists from a variety of public and private sources.

INFORMATION ARCHIVES
The archives contain NEWS 2008 SCHEDULE paper clippings, registrations, articles from other sources, organized thematically.
